To write that post I did some research on types of visitors, and what happens when they visit. What I found was getting a link from another blogger within a blog roll may be nice for PR, but it doesn't do much for generating genuine traffic through the link. Meaning, a visitor might click it, but they will probably bounce a second later.

A better kind of link is a referral type link. It's good for PR, and when a visitor actually clicks the link they put a little more time into looking at your site. So instead of just asking for a link exchange, ask for a referral exchange. A quck blurb and link works way better than just the dang link.
