I use bluehost and some of my friends use hostmonster. Services of these 2 companies are all good. IMO  Have a good day,

hostmonster,bluehost,hostgator,byethehost. These all are USA based hosting companies and all of them are equally good. Hostagtor is my favorite.

Are there any reputable review sites that compare or rate these hosting companies?
Lots of useful companies mentioned, I'll have to remember these if I ever need one!

It's impossible to suggest 1 web host as the 'best'. The right host for you depends on your requirements.
- What do you plan to create? A website, forum, blog, online store
- Do you need a website builder?
- Are you confident installing scripts such as WordPress. If not you will need a host with 'Fantastico'
