Two Questions about adding Video and Which Content type is more Interesting

Well I am working on my first blog and it will chronicle my upcoming roadtrip across America and back with my wife. What I was wondering was if I decide to take short video clips should I host them on youtube and embed them into my blog or just strictly upload them to the blog. I guess what I am getting after is could hosting them on youtube generate more traffic for the blog?
A second question which would be just everyone's personal opinion is should we keep the blog a more serious travel blog with reviews of places we stay and restaurants we eat at or should I incorporate humorous video like skits taken from movies (30 second video recreating Sleepless in Seattle atop the Empire State Building) I was just interested to see what everyone here thought would generate more interest. I think its a good idea.! Putting a video on youtube about your blog is a big help to get more traffic.. I guess intersting content would be something that comes from the very start of the video..  The start must be attention catching to prevent viewers from walking away..

I'd go with uploading them to youtube, you'd get a lot more easy exposure using it. I think you can be serious and funny with your videos at the same time, just be consistent. Figure out a format your videos will take, upload regularly and consistently and promote them.

All going well, one of your videos goes viral and that would make life so much easier.
