The best way I've found to get traffic (besides posting on facebook and twitter where people are obligated to read what I say) is commenting on blogs. For us, its great to find a high traffic blog that we actually enjoy reading and just organically comment and add to the conversation.

Use the Google Adwords Keytool to see, what people are searching for. Then make at good, long and unique text about that subject = you will get good traffic from the search engines. Remember to optimize your website, so the search engines can find it.

You can do forum posting and blog commenting every day. These are well known , assured, and very good ways to do it. Have it on number of good quality forums and blogs- day by day the publicity and traffic will increase. all the best.

As a I have a fairly new blog (started in the last couple of months) I too have found it hard to generate traffic. I have tried most of the above methods and the only advice I can give to everyone else is to just try everything! Worst case scenario is that you get a little extra traffic to your blog right? That being said, the place where I get most of my traffic is FaceBook - but as someone has already mentioned, that's because they are friends and they feel obligated to read it. I'll keep dipping my hands into any other methods I can find  Thanks for the hints so far guys, really appreciate it http://thehungrydead.blogspot.com/

Just a quick reply to say I've joined some of the mentioned sites and I have already noticed a small increase in traffic to my blog One thing I did come across in my search was how hard it is to find blogs much like my own. I know I have a relatively small market for readers, but I would have thought I would come across more blogs much like my own, than I have.
