A back link is an incoming link pointing to your site.

Speaking of links, I removed the one in your profile. If you want to link to your blog fine but links to commercial sites are not allowed here.

Hi,

It’s a type of a “hyper link” placed on sites other than yours, responsible for funneling traffic/hits from that website. A link on your website which points to another web resource is called an “out going link” or “outbound link”. Promoting your URL/link on various resources like blogs, social media networks, forums, classifieds and other websites is called link building. Creating a link is pretty easy if you’ve got some basic knowledge of HTML. Otherwise a webmaster could do it for you.

It is as stated above are incoming links to a website or web page. It will increase traffic, improve PR. Forum posting is best example of it.
